  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Large Bowl

Method

Roasting Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Wash and dry the Hatch Green Chiles, then toss them with olive oil and salt on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  3. Roast the chiles for 15-20 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until their skins are blistered and charred.
  4. Once roasted, transfer the hot chiles to a bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap or a lid, allowing them to steam for 10-15 minutes to loosen their skins.
  5. Carefully peel off the loosened skins, remove stems and seeds, then chop or slice the chiles as desired for your recipes.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling chiles to avoid skin irritation. Roasted chiles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for several months.
