Ingredients

Chicken
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Orange Sauce
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
Garnish
  • sesame seeds and green onions, sliced for garnish

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Skillet or Wok
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk

Method

Prepare the Chicken
  1. Cut chicken thighs into 1-inch pieces and pat dry with paper towels. In a bowl, toss the chicken with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
Make the Orange Sauce
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to create a slurry.
  2. Pour the orange sauce mixture into the same skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Combine and Serve
  1. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the orange sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the chicken to warm through and absorb the sauce.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, then serve immediately with rice and steamed vegetables.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can double-fry the chicken. Serve with steamed white rice and your favorite stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal. Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
