Ingredients

Cheese Ball Base
  • 2 (8-ounce packages) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
Outer Coating
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • plastic wrap

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce until well mixed.
  2. Form the cheese mixture into a ball and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
  3. Refrigerate the cheese ball for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Growing the Cheese Ball (Figuratively)
  1. After refrigeration, unwrap the cheese ball and gently press the chopped pecans and fresh parsley onto its entire surface.
  2. Continue to refrigerate the cheese ball for up to 5 days, allowing the flavors to deepen and the coating to adhere.
Serving
  1. Serve the "grown" cheese ball with crackers, pretzels, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

For best results, use good quality cream cheese and cheddar cheese. You can customize the outer coating with other nuts, dried fruits, or spices. The "growing" refers to the deepening of flavors, not an actual increase in size.
