Dough Preparation
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Baking
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
- In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add food coloring if desired and mix well.
Decorating
- Once cookies are completely cool, spread or pipe frosting onto them.
Notes
For best results, make sure your butter is at room temperature for easy creaming. You can store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
