Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Form the mixture into four equal patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from bulging while cooking.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease with oil.
- Cook the chicken patties for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and golden brown. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
Assembly
- Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread optional sauce on both halves of the buns.
- Place a cooked chicken patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and any other desired toppings. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to the chicken mixture. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of your patties to ensure they are fully cooked.
