Method 1: Skillet Teriyaki Chicken
- Cut chicken into 1-inch pieces. Whisk together teriyaki sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey or brown sugar, and rice vinegar in a bowl.
- Marinate chicken in half of the sauce for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Add the remaining sauce and cornstarch mixture to the skillet and cook until thickened.
Method 2: Baked Teriyaki Chicken
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Pour half of the teriyaki sauce mixture over the chicken. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Brush with remaining sauce during the last 5 minutes of baking.
Method 3: Grilled Teriyaki Chicken
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Thread chicken pieces onto skewers, if desired.
- Brush chicken with half of the teriyaki sauce mixture. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Brush with remaining sauce during the last few minutes of grilling.
Method 4: Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken
- Place chicken in the slow cooker. Pour the entire teriyaki sauce mixture over the chicken.
- Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1.5-2 hours, until chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Shred chicken, if desired, and serve with the sauce.
Garnish and Serve
- Garnish all teriyaki chicken dishes with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the teriyaki sauce. Serve with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables for a complete meal. Adjust honey or brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
