Ingredients

Peanut Butter Blossom Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 25 Hershey's Kisses, unwrapped

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large bowl
  • Electric mixer (optional)
  • Baking sheets
  • Wire rack

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the creamy peanut butter, then add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat evenly.
Baking
  1. Place the sugared dough balls about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
  3. Immediately after removing from the oven, press a Hershey's Kiss into the center of each cookie, causing it to crack slightly.
  4. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can use crunchy peanut butter. Ensure your butter is truly softened for a smoother dough. Do not overbake to keep the cookies soft and chewy.
