Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
Combine Ingredients
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined; do not overmix, as lumps are acceptable.
Cook Waffles
- Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with vegetable oil or cooking spray.
- Pour about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron, or as directed by your appliance.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
Serve
- Carefully remove the cooked waffles and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
- Repeat with the remaining batter, ensuring to re-grease the waffle iron between batches if necessary.
Notes
For extra crispy waffles, use buttermilk. You can keep cooked waffles warm in a single layer on a baking sheet in a preheated oven at 200°F (95°C).
