Growing Romaine Lettuce
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden or a large pot with well-draining soil.
- Plant romaine lettuce seeds about 1/4 inch deep and 6-8 inches apart.
- Water regularly to keep the soil moist, especially during dry periods.
- Harvest outer leaves as needed, allowing the inner leaves to continue growing, typically ready in 60-70 days.
Preparing the Caesar Salad
- Wash and thoroughly dry the freshly harvested romaine lettuce leaves, then chop them into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, Dijon mustard, fresh lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
- Gradually drizzle in the olive oil while continuously whisking until the dressing is emulsified and smooth, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and black pepper.
- Pour the homemade Caesar dressing over the chopped romaine lettuce, toss gently to coat all the leaves evenly, and finally, add the homemade croutons and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra touch, you can rub the salad bowl with a cut garlic clove before adding the lettuce. Adjust dressing ingredients to your taste preferences. Enjoy with grilled chicken or fish for a complete meal.
