Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts, boneless, skinless cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Pan
  • Medium Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Tongs

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and cornstarch until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  2. Season the chicken pieces generously with salt and black pepper on all sides.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the seasoned chicken pieces to the hot skillet in a single layer.
  2. Cook the chicken for 3-5 minutes per side, or until it is nicely browned and cooked through. Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce into the same skillet. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly, and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing gently to ensure each piece is thoroughly coated in the rich, sticky honey garlic sauce.
Serving
  1. Garnish the honey garlic chicken with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added flavor and visual appeal.
  2. Serve the chicken immediately over steamed white or brown rice and alongside your favorite stir-fried or roasted vegetables.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can marinate the chicken in a small amount of the honey garlic sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the amount of ginger and garlic to your preference for a bolder taste. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a tablespoon of water or chicken broth to thin it out slightly.
