Ingredients

Pie Crust
  • 2 sheets Refrigerated pie crusts
Filling
  • 6-8 medium Apples peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith, Fuji, Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter cut into small pieces

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grab a 9-inch pie dish; unroll one pie crust and gently fit it into the dish, trimming any excess and setting aside the second crust for later.
Make Filling
  1. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice, tossing everything gently until the apples are evenly coated.
Assemble Pie
  1. Spoon the apple filling into the pie crust, dot with the small pieces of butter, then top with the second pie crust, crimping the edges to seal and cutting a few slits in the top for venting.
Bake
  1. Bake the pie for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C), then reduce the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Cool and Serve
  1. Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

For best results, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. If you prefer a crispier crust, consider brushing the top with an egg wash before baking. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
