  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 4 cups Vegetable Broth
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
  • 0.25 cup Fresh Basil for garnish
For the Grilled Cheese
  • 8 slices Sourdough Bread
  • 8 slices Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 tbsp Butter

Equipment

  • Gardening Tools
  • Large Pot
  • Blender
  • Skillet

Method

Growing Tomatoes (Implied)
  1. Select a sunny spot, prepare the soil, and plant your tomato seedlings. Water regularly, supporting the plants as they grow.
  2. Prune your tomato plants by removing suckers and lower leaves to encourage fruit production and air circulation. Harvest ripe tomatoes when they are firm and red.
Cooking Tomato Soup
  1. Dice the onion and garlic; sauté them in olive oil in a large pot until softened. Add chopped tomatoes, vegetable broth, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  2. Blend the soup until smooth, then taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
Making Grilled Cheese
  1. Butter one side of each bread slice; place cheese between the unbuttered sides. Cook in a preheated skillet over medium heat, buttered-side down, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  2. Flip and cook the other side until golden and crispy. Serve immediately with the hot tomato soup.

Notes

For an extra creamy soup, add a splash of heavy cream or coconut milk at the end. Experiment with different cheese types for your grilled cheese to find your favorite pairing.
