  1. Measure out 9 cups of Chex cereal and place it into a large mixing bowl; set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter, then microwave for 1 minute; stir the mixture.
  3. Continue to microwave the chocolate mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until it is smooth; then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal and stir gently until the cereal is evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag, add the powdered sugar, and shake until all the cereal is well coated.
  6. Spread the puppy chow onto a baking sheet to cool completely before serving, or store it in an airtight container.

Notes
