Ingredients

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Baking sheet

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  4. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 15-20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a round roll.
  3. Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Brush with melted butter (optional) immediately after removing from the oven, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra fluffy rolls, ensure your milk is warm (105-115°F / 40-46°C) but not hot, as this can kill the yeast.
