  • Cheesecloth or mesh sprouting lid
  • Rubber band

Equipment

  • Glass jar
  • Cheesecloth
  • Rubber band

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the oats thoroughly under cool water, then place them in your sprouting jar.
Soaking
  1. Add enough filtered water to cover the oats by several inches, secure the cheesecloth with a rubber band, and soak for 8-12 hours at room temperature.
Rinsing and Draining (Days 1-7)
  1. Drain the soaking water, rinse the oats well with fresh water, and then invert the jar at an angle in a bowl or sink to allow excess water to drain.
Daily Care
  1. Repeat the rinsing and draining process twice daily (morning and evening) for 5-7 days, or until the sprouts are about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long.
Harvesting
  1. Once sprouted, give them a final rinse, drain well, and pat dry with a paper towel before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

Ensure proper drainage to prevent mold. If any mold appears, discard the batch. Enjoy your homegrown oatmeal sprouts in salads, smoothies, or as a crunchy topping!
