  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Cream Wet Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and no streaks of flour remain.
Add Chocolate Chips
  1. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Bake
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
  2. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
Cool
  1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use good quality chocolate chips. You can also add nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra flavor and crunch. Do not overbake the cookies to keep them soft and chewy.
