Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2-3 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
For the Rub (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • roasting pan
  • aluminum foil
  • knife

Method

Preparation
  1. If making a rub, combine paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub generously over the brisket.
Cooking
  1. Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C). Place brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up, and add a small amount of water or beef broth to the bottom of the pan. Cover tightly with foil and roast for 4-5 hours, or until fork-tender.
  2. Remove brisket from the oven, baste with BBQ sauce, and increase oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Return to the oven uncovered for 30 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized.
Assembly
  1. Remove brisket from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before thinly slicing or shredding. Serve hot on hamburger buns with extra BBQ sauce, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, smoke the brisket for a few hours before roasting. Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference, and consider adding coleslaw or pickles for an authentic BBQ experience.
